322 EFG London Jazz Festival: Nils Økland, Kaidi Akinnibi & Lorenz Okello-Osengor + Helena Kay & Sam Watts

16 November @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

On the first of the EFG London Jazz Festival events for this year Daylight Music presents Norwegian Hardanger fiddle Nils Økland (Ecm / Hubro). His instrumental melodies will react and resonate with the chapel’s 19th Century space, taking us on a hushed, deep journey far beyond our resting place in the pews.

Tomorrow’s Warriors present improvisers Kaidi Akinnibi and Lorenz Okello-Osengor, who constantly search for new inspiration, as can be seen in their recent collaboration with the Urdang dance company. They will for the first time incorporate the chapel’s Henry Willis Organ.

Finally, we’ll begin this afternoon with award-winning saxophonist Helena Kay and pianist Sam Watts who marry their wildly eclectic backgrounds and influences and give us an opportunity to eavesdrop on a conversation between their two instruments.
